In 2025, she completed an honours thesis on 'Modernity and the Devolving Poetics of Embodied Cognition,' interrogating the relationship between 19/20th century poetry and shifting models of human consciousness.

Em loves to mess with fictocritical writing, transforming the literature she's reading into new genres and textual forms.

Her academic work is often interested in ecocriticism, posthumanist philosophy, and the strange interdisciplinary world of the 'neurohumanities,' where literary studies and cognitive science collide.
